SANTA FE, NM, USA – November 19, 2019 Solstar Space Company’s Schmitt Space Communicator has been accessioned into the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum’s collection. Dr. Martin Collins, curator of the museum’s civilian application satellites collection, presented Solstar Space Company CEO M. Brian Barnett the official deed of gift accepting the donation in Washington, D.C. last week.

Solstar’s Schmitt Space Communicator SC-1x prototype first flew to space onboard Blue Origin’s rocket ‘New Shepard’ on April 29th, 2018. Solstar Space Company achieved the first commercial Wi-fi hotspot and commercial internet service, sending the first commercial tweet from space. The Schmitt Space Communicator demonstrated the Wi-Fi hot spot service inside and outside the spacecraft, for second time on July 18, 2018.

Solstar Space is the leading commercial satellite communications company pioneering technology for the use of Wi-Fi in space. Solstar has developed the technology to enable data transmissions to and from platforms in space. With the support of NASA, Solstar has successfully demonstrated its commercial two-way payload data service technology on three suborbital flights. Solstar’s Schmitt Space Communicator provides a Wi-Fi hot spot service inside and outside the spacecraft that can be used by Wi-Fi enabled payloads and payload specialists. Solstar’s two-way data communications are vital in obtaining and gathering information securely, and paving the way for commercial, in-flight communications.

At a recent summit about space commerce, Deborah Barnhart, director of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, was asked if she has any predictions about the first words spoken by humans on Mars. She deferred to the kids and teenagers who attend her center’s Space Camp program for her answer.

While that phrase is not quite so lofty as Neil Armstrong’s historic “One small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind,” uttered on the Moon 50 years ago, it does reflect the practical reality that the internet will follow humans wherever we go—even if that means into deep space or to the surface of other planets.

Dear Investors,

I thought you might enjoy seeing the following video of my recent presentation at the International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS).

The ISPCS is one of the most prestigious commercial space conferences, and I was honored to have been chosen to speak.

Spotlight Address: The Future All Payloaders Hope For-Commercial WiFi Service in Space Brian Barnett, Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Solstar SpaceUsing a short video and photographs, M. Brian Barnett will describe and show how the first commercial WiFi service on a commercial spacecraft succeeded.

On April 29th, 2018, Solstar used its WiFi service inside Blue Origin’s New Shepard crew capsule to post the first commercial tweet from space using the Schmitt Space Communicator SC-1x payload. What this means is that future payloaders can have real-time, convenient access to their WiFi-enabled payloads, machines, and colleagues in space using a smartphone or any other internet connected device. This is truly a tipping point advancement for commercial space and is an enabling technology for researchers and companies.

Solstar provides the WiFi, our customers decide how they want to use it to advance their research and business objectives.

Solstar Space Co. is riding the WeFunder regulation crowdfunding platform to blast its space communications technology into low earth orbit.

The New Mexico company, which flew its Schmitt Space Communicator into suborbit on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket in April, is now seeking to raise $1 million through WeFunder to continue developing its technology for commercial deployment on deeper missions in space. The funding will boost further testing and development of the Schmitt communicator, help the company build an app for people on the ground to interact with space missions and payloads through Solstar’s future internet and phone service, and push forward on construction of a more robust communications router to manage internet connections with satellites and other space vehicles in low earth orbit.

Solstar Space Co., the Santa Fe-based tech firm that wants to bring commercial Wi-Fi to space, is offering a stake in the company.

Solstar’s founder and CEO, M. Brian Barnett, filed an offering statement June 26 with the Securities and Exchange Commission seeking approval to raise investment capital through the online crowdfunding platform Wefunder.com. Another Santa Fe firm, Meow Wolf, raised more than $1 million on Wefunder, according to a Meow Wolf 2017 financial report online.

Barnett is looking to raise $1 million in equity funding through the crowdfunding investment site, he said last week. The campaign is soliciting investments, not donations, he said.
